As we welcome in fall there is a change of the seasons, but also a change in the energy that is created in and around your home.  With each season comes new energy and a transition to sweep out the old will help you enjoy and be healthy in your home.  Before the fall comes, use these tips to remove the clutter from the old energy and prepare for a home of new energy and prosperity.

  • Clear out the old:  In feng shui your home represents an energy field.  In order to bring in positive energy clutter, stagnation and junk needs to be cleared away to make room for positive energy.  Look through your closets, cabinets, and countertops.  These are places where excessive papers, old clothes, and even unused toys collect and junk up your home.  Consider donating or selling unused items.
  • Add flow to your home:  In feng shui movement represents energy flow and you want to avoid abrupt areas in your home that will make the energy stop abruptly.  In the fall the shedding of leaves for trees represents movement and in your home adding plants, small water features and nature inspired artwork in these abrupt areas will keep the energy flowing.  Pay special attention to empty corners and dark areas of your home to add movement and flow.
  • Arrange furniture for ease and comfort:  Take a look at the arrangement of furniture in your home.  If it is all facing a dark wall, or corner, consider brightening up the corner with live plants or adding a warm welcoming paint color to the wall.  If you have windows that are open to the room, consider repositioning  the furniture towards the windows.  The flow of energy from nature into your home happens through views and senses.  Just by rearranging your furniture you can take a summer placement of furniture and now shift it to new views for the fall.
  • Bring in colors and inspiration:  Feng shui is also about feeling good to bring about positive change in yourself and family.  What better way than through your home?  Fall inspired decor, such as pumpkins, gourds, and leaves make beautiful dining room centerpieces.  Bring in colors of gold, rust, and oranges to warm your home as the weather turns colder in the fall months.  When your body and mind feel good, feng shui is working and flowing well throughout your home.

Your home can be a wealth of positive energy with the help of feng shui tips.  The fall is a perfect time to usher out the summer and welcome in the cool temperatures and warm colors of the season.  When your home has a positive flow of energy, you and your family will enjoy it all the better!
